Pastels II – Advanced Techniques

Soft pastel workshop for those with some pastel experience. Explore various surfaces to create exciting effects with soft pastels. Students will work from a fairly complex still-life set-up that I prepare.
Demo – I show you how to use clear gesso & acrylic underpainting for a textured support.
Several types of sample papers to try will be available for purchase.
Easels supplied. Please bring the following materials:
- 1 set of soft pastels. Bring hard (square) & soft (round) pastels sets if you have both.
- Drawing board, size - approx. 22" x 28" (a piece of masonite cut for you at the hardware store or lumberyard works well too)
- 2 clamps for the drawing board to hold the paper
- 1 kneaded eraser
- 1-2 sticks vine charcoal
- Wear an apron or old painting shirt
Class size is limited to four people so you will receive lots of personal instruction.
