Pastel Classes

Learn to draw, how to see, and how to use the medium of soft pastels, just like Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt! Well, almost!

When one is learning to draw the most important thing is learning how to see. Utilizing a still-life setting of simple forms, then progressing towards more complexity in future sessions, you will learn how to concentrate and develop your skills of perception and drawing. It is, most of all, a matter of practicing and perseverance.

If have a project you are already working on, you may bring that for suggestions and work on it in the studio. Contact Barbara if you are interested in drawing a landscape and she will advise you on how to begin from a photograph that you have taken.

We work for three hours on Saturday morning or afternoon at my studio. With a full class of only four people there is much individual attention. A person with any level of experience is welcome, from beginners to the more advanced. There will be individual problem solving, discussions on various techniques and media, and famous artists.
