I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; nevertheless, I feel that I am a native Kansan, having spent many years in Salina, Kansas and currently living in Lawrence. Here, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Kansas. An artist from the very beginning, I have created art for most of my life. Even before attaining my degree, I participated in numerous art classes and professional workshops. I lived in England for three years during my early twenties and that was an inspiring and educational experience for me in many ways. It was there that I first became interested in ancient civilizations — a pursuit that continues to influence my work to this day. Much of my work over the years has been the exploration of my inner-self and the connection to universal feelings and ideas common to every human being in the past and present. |
